Client Perceptions of Online Counselling
In a study reported in the Journal of Mental Health Counselling (Volume 28, Number 1, January 2006) it was found that online clients were already regular Internet users and were individuals who enjoyed the convenience and anonymity of the service. They were satisfied with their relationships with their counsellor and online counselling but not as satisfied as clients who have undergone traditional face-to-face counselling. The main disadvantage, the loss of nonverbal information, was offset by the advantage of anonymity when sharing shameful personal information.
