Bellamy, Andy
Andy's therapeutic interests and experience include cognitive therapy, mindfulness, and emotional freedom technique. Regardless of the therapeutic technique employed, Andy believes in approaching and integrating all work with people through person centered principles that include respect, empathy, non-judgment, and positive regard. Furthermore, Andy believes that personal experience is constructed by the way individuals think and the stories individuals create by their particular style of thinking. Individuals can develop unhelpful thinking styles and thus develop distorted (inaccurate) and unhealthy self conceptions that facilitate the development of problems such as depression, anxiety, and even issues with self-esteem. Once unhelpful thinking is identified and challenged it can often result in relief from issues that resulted from the unhelpful thinking style. Andy believes in employing a strength-based approach focusing and building on people's resiliencies and resources while at the same time empowering clients through their own life experience. Andy guides individuals to develop deep seated self conceptions and personal truths, which are both realistic and empowering.
