What is the scope of Walmsley and Associates'. Does Walmsley and Associates offer specialized services i.e.  substance abuse referrals?   

Walmsley and Associates provides a comprehensive EFAP service.  This include Counselling Intervention, Education and Awareness and Prevention. Go to our Employee and Family Assistace Program Services page for a complete list of services.  Substance abuse referrals, follow up and case management are intregal parts of the Walmsley and Associates EFAP service.

Exactly how would the service be provided to our employees?  For example, do you use a 1-800 number, referral network, on site service, etc? 

Employees call the 1-800 number and intake staff match the employee with the most appropriate counsellor in the area. Employees can self-select counsellors by viewing their biographies on our website.  Service is provided in Walmsley and Associates offices or the counsellor's private office.

What is the average counselling time per session?  Is there limited coverage per client?  Is there a limited coverage per problem?

The average counselling time per session is one hour.  The contract with the employer specifies the number of sessions per contact.  During the first session the counsellor will assess what can be done within the session limit.  However, this limit may extended if warranted by the individual circumstances of the employee.  Employees are able to re-access the service at any time if another issue arises.

What is the availability? Is counselling available evenings and weekends? When are crisis counselling sessions arranged?

Sessions are generally available Monday to Saturday, both evening and daytime depending on the location and on counsellor availability during specific times.  Walmsley & Associates recognizes the need to provide services outside regular business hours.  Crisis counselling sessions are provided within the same day.  If necessary, counselling will be provided over the phone.  After hours, emergency calls are put directly through to a counsellor by our answering service.

What type of training would be provided for worksite reps, managers, shop stewards?  (Employee orientation, employee worksite visits, management/union representative training, on going education programs for employees)? 

Normally this kind of training is provided under the direction and recommendation of the EFAP committee or HR department.  Employee education and awareness sessions are provided on a regular basis. Employer reps and manager training is provided as requested.

What kinds of return to work, aftercare, or support services are offered to employees who have completed alcohol or drug treatment?

Walmsley & Associates takes a case management role with employees who have completed alcohol/drug treatment.  This may mean meeting with the employee on a regular basis and ensuring his/her recovery program is in place or maintaining contact and making referrals to community agencies as appropriate.
