Jan Zacharias
Jan has been in the counselling field since 2002 and has done a variety of EAP counselling as well as working as a counsellor with adolescents and their families. Jan is able to use a variety of interventions including Solution-Focused counselling that enable clients to work through issues around setting appropriate limits both in oneâââ‰â¢s personal and professional lives, assertiveness, anger management, or relationship concerns. She also has extensive experience in using a cognitive behavioral approach as it applies to stress, depression and anxiety. Her primary focus is always collaborative or client-centered.
Since Jan has had 10 years of previous teaching experience she is familiar with issues that arise in the teaching profession such as stress and conflict in the workplace.
Jan graduated from the University of Missouri in 1971 with a Bachelors degree in Psychology. She completed a diploma in nursing in 1972 from the Strawn School of Nursing. Jan obtained her teaching certification after completing the PDP program at Simon Fraser University in 1995. She graduated from the Masters of Education in Counselling program at University of Northern British Columbia in 2002.
