Nancy Taylor

Since 1980, Nancy has worked in many contexts with women, children and families living in rural communities.  Her counselling experience has primarily been in the women's anti-violence sector, where she provides clinical supervision to other counsellors.  Using a strengths-based approach, she is qualified to practice trauma intervention and EMDR.  Her practice includes integrative counselling that focuses on thoughts, emotions, body sensations and behaviors.  Nancy has experienced the joys and limitations of rural practice.  Located in the scenic Robson Valley, she uses the gifts of nature for achieving wholeness and is aware of the prevalence of dual relationships in small communities.  Nancy is comfortable working with client issues related to abuse and trauma, parenting, grief, life transitions and relationships.  She believes change can occur when a therapeutic alliance develops with clients.

Nancy has an undergraduate in Sociology and Women's Studies from the University of Victoria and recently completed a Master in Education (Counselling) degree from Acadia University in Nova Scotia.  She participated in clinical supervision training at the Justice Institute of BC and at Acadia University.

Nancy is the mother of three grown children and has two young granddaughters living in the Bulkley Valley.  Surrounded by the loving support of her family, friends and her rural community, she finds renewal through outdoor recreation and organic gardening.

Nancy is certified by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and complies with their Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
