Kathie Robertson
Kathie Robertson graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in January of 2007 and brings over 10 years of experience from the counselling services field. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists.
Kathie has had a private counselling practice in Nelson, B.C, since November, 2007. She does contract work as a child and youth mental health clinician for the Ministry of Children and Families and as a case manager/emergency response with adults for Nelson Mental Health. She provides telephone counselling to clients who prefer that mode of service.
Kathie offers a variety of counselling therapies, for example, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioural, attachment-based therapy for individuals and couples, and as a trained EMDR therapist she offers an experiential alternative to traditional "talk" therapy. She also enjoys doing group counselling and currently co-facilitates the CONNECT parenting group, which is based on an attachment model. Kathie has a particular interest in attachment-based therapy and strengthening relationships because she believes strong relationships are a protective factor in family, couple, and child, and therefore, community, functioning.
