Connie Kaweesi
Connie is a member of the British Columbia Association of Social Workers and a Registered Clinical Social Worker. She is a social work educator and teaches in the Social Service Worker Diploma Program at the Northern Lights College and the Bachelor of Social Work Program at the University of Northern British Columbia . She has worked in the social service and health field in northern British Columbia since 1985. Connie was awarded the Bridget Moran Award in March 2009, honouring her long-standing social work career, her contributions to the profession, the community, and research within a northern setting. Connie has worked with a diverse range of clients in the Criminal Justice System, First Nations Communities and with marginalized women. She holds a Certificate in Child Sexual Abuse Intervention Counsellor from the Justice Institute. Her areas of Social Work practice include: individual and group counselling, clinical supervision, consultation and research. Connie's clinical practice is based on cognitive-behaviour therapy and feminist counselling. Her specific areas of clinical practice are: Anger management, Violence in Relationship and Trauma. In her free time she enjoys movies, local theatre and concerts as well as the beauty of nature.
